 World Blood Donor Day

Students of Maths department had conducted a special assembly on 14th June, 2024 observing World Blood Donor Day. A Poster Making Contest was conducted in which two students from each department had to make a poster on the significance of blood donation. The best part of the day was a beautiful dramatization on the importance of blood donation. It made me emotional, especially the last part where the little daughter dies because she didn't get blood on time. A survey was conducted to know the willingness to donate blood among students.

World Child Labour Day - 12/06/2024

 World Child Labour Day

Students of Commerce Department had organized a special assembly on 12th June, 2024 observing World Child Labour Day. The special assembly began with prayer by Aparna. Devu did the compering for the assembly. Divyasree shared the importance of the day. A caption writing contest was also held as a spot event. A picture on child labour was shown and we were asked to write an appropriate caption for it. The winners of the contest were Ajnu and Hanna from the English department.

Best Friends Day - 10/06/2024

 Best Friends Day

Students of Natural Science Department had conducted a special assembly for the Best Friends Day on 10th June, 2024. Two spot competitions were conducted. 'Vantage' was a photography contest in which one had to click a photo with a friend and write an apt caption for the same. Another competition called 'Scribe and Smile' was conducted in which we had to write a letter to our best friend. The photo contest was won by Devika from the English department, and Letter contest was won by Neethu from Social Science department.

World Environment Day Celebration - 05/06/2024

 World Environment Day Celebration

World Environment Day was celebrated on 5th June, 2024 in the college. Students of all departments together had conducted the special assembly. Message for the day was given by Toja from the English department. A Fashion show on the theme 'Back to Nature' was conducted. Neethu from the Social Science department won the first prize. An Environment Day Quiz was also held which was won by Arun and Blessy from the Social Science department. Saplings were given to the winners. Trees were planted in the college premises by Principal, teachers and students of both batches.

Reflection - Educational Tour - 04/06/2024

Reflection - Educational Tour

A Reflection session was conducted on 4th June, 2023. We shared our experiences of the tour. I was the first one to talk about it. I said that I loved the tour and the places we visited especially the mist clad hills of Chikamagalur. The food and tastes were different but good. We got to do a lot of shopping for our families. We had some health issues especially after the jeep trekking and the hairpin bends made us nauseous. The constant support of our teachers Rana Ma'am and Aby Sir and Sister Monica, also our friends comforted us. I also mentioned that timings were always kept in mind and we reached safely at the estimated time on the last day. It was a great experience altogether. We clicked a lot of photos during the tour. Rana Ma'am and Aby Sir also shared their experiences.

My Reflection on Tour

Educational Tour - 27/05/24 to 31/05/24

 Educational Tour

We went for an Educational Tour for 5 days starting from 27th May, 2024 (Monday) to 31st May, 2024 (Friday). We went to Coorg, Chikmagalur and Belur. Rana Ma'am, Aby Sir and Sister Monica accompanied us in our tour. We started from Adoor at 4:30 p.m. and reached Edapally at 9:30 p.m. for dinner. 

On Day 2 (28th May), by 8 a.m. we had reached Hotel Gateway Inn, at Coorg. We had breakfast and went to Harangi Elephant Camp. Later we visited Harangi Dam and then went for lunch. We also got to visit the Golden Temple (Tibetan Monastery) which helped us know more about Buddhism. Last spot for the day was the Bamboo forest (Nisargadhama) which had a hanging bridge at the entrance, lush bamboo groves, tree houses and bird park. We also got to do a lot of shopping that day. We had dinner and stayed at the hotel.

On Day 3 (29th May), we checked out from the hotel and started from Coorg by 5:50 a.m. We reached Chikmagalur and had breakfast from J.K. Homestay. Then we went for Jeep trekking and visited the Siri Statue and Honnammana Falls. Climbing the peaks of Baba Budangiri was a breathtaking experience. The view of mist clad hills, the cool breeze and the climb was something one must experience. We also visted the cave shrine in Baba Budangiri which is a sacred place for both Hindus and Muslims. After lunch we went to Mullayanagiri and Z point. By 6:30 p.m. we reached our homestay and had dinner at 8 p.m. There was also a campfire at 11 p.m. We stayed at the homestay that day.

Day 4 (30th May) was the last day for visiting places and shopping. We had breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and checked out of the homestay, moving to Belur. We visited the Chennakeshava Temple in Belur. Later we went for water activities like kayaking, banana ride, rafting and speed boating. We had lunch at 1 p.m. and started our journey back to college by 2:30 p.m. By 9 p.m. we had reached Wayanad and had dinner from there.

On Day 5 (31st May) we reached Adoor, after the beautiful tour, at 8:30 a.m. Our parents and families had come to receive us. That was the last day of an amazing journey. We had some health issues during the journey but we managed to overcome them with the consistent support of our teachers and friends. It was a memorable tour.
