Theatre Practice Workshop
A Theatre Practice Workshop was conducted as a part of our Second Semester B.Ed course on 26th March, 2024. The resource person for the workshop was Shri. Satish G. Nair, a famous theatre artist.
The morning session had a lot of activities and performances. Satish Sir taught us what is meant by acting, the difference between acting and performance and the role of teacher as a performer. He also mentioned that the tools of an actor are body, mind and voice. He introduced to us the idea of 'Theatre of Mind'. We were made to perform parts of poems by renowned Malayalam poets.
The afternoon session also had some activities, after which we were grouped according to our optional subject. Each group had to create a script for a dramatization of any topic from the school textbooks of class 8 to 10, of their respective subject, and had to enact them. It was a great experience discussing, creating the script, planning and rehearsing the play. We had fun enacting our drama 'Election and Democracy' from Class 9 textbook, chapter 8. At the end of the session we were given marks. Satish Sir declared the results of each of the teams and clearly mentioned their strengths and weakness. Our team of Social Science performed the best and scored the highest. The overall session of theatre practice opened a new world of acting to us, helping us to become great teachers.
